Our firm represents clients in obtaining all types of municipal, state and federal permit approvals for the proposed uses of their property. These land use projects include approvals from Planning commissions, zoning commissions, zoning boards of appeal, inland wetland agencies, conservation commissions, historic commissions, environmental protection permits, and army corps of engineers permits. Project types range from multi-lot residential subdivisions, to retail establishment operations, to commercial buildings, to industrial uses and to environmental sensitive commercial uses.
Much of the firm's practice is devoted to the appellate process and litigating appeals from the decision of land use boards. Land use laws in Connecticut grow increasingly complex and a client's property rights are subject to a myriad of regulation. In addition, sometimes land use regulations go too far and violate the landowner's rights by inverse condemnation, violation of equal protection, or due process. Often, the only way to secure these rights is by means of appellate review in the court. We have represented clients in Connecticut Superior and Appellate Courts, and in the federal United States District Court and 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals.
